UV Aging Test
The experimental equipment uses fluorescent ultraviolet light as the light source to simulate sunlight ultraviolet rays, and can also simulate the influence of dew and rain through condensation or spray. The samples are tested for tens of hours or even days in the solar ultraviolet light environment simulated by the laboratory UV ultraviolet aging test box, which can simulate the damage that may occur in months or years outdoors, and simulate the damage that takes months or years outdoors. Reproduce the product after UV aging: including fading, discoloration, brightness decline, chalking, cracking, blurring, embrittlement, strength decline and oxidation and other aging conditions.
Test Purpose
The reliable data provided by UV aging test can accurately predict the weather resistance (anti-aging) of products, and help to screen and optimize materials and formulations.
Scope of application
It is mainly used in motor vehicles, building materials, textiles, furniture, leather and other industries.
The difference between ultraviolet aging test and xenon lamp aging test
Unlike xenon lamp aging/solar radiation aging tests, UV ultraviolet aging cannot simulate full-spectrum sunlight, and ultraviolet light radiates from 0.01 to 0.10 microns in the electromagnetic spectrum. Most polymers, such as plastics and rubber, are greatly affected by ultraviolet aging. Long bands of ultraviolet light, including some colors and fuel materials, can also cause severe aging.
UV aging test stage
UV aging test can be set light, condensation and spray three kinds of aging mode:
Light stage
Simulate the length of daylight in the natural environment (usually between 0.35W/m2 and 1.35W/m2, and the solar light intensity at noon in summer is about 0.55W/m2) and the test temperature (50 ℃ ~ 85 ℃), so as to simulate the various use environments of the product and meet the test requirements of different regions and industries.
Condensation stage
Simulate the phenomenon of fog on the surface of the sample at night, turn off the fluorescent ultraviolet lamp (dark state) in the condensation stage, only control the test temperature (40~60 ℃), and the sample surface humidity is 95~100 RH.
Spray stage
The process of rain was simulated by continuously spraying water onto the sample surface. Since the artificial UV accelerated aging test conditions are much harsher than the natural environment, the aging damage that can only occur in several years in the natural environment can be simulated and reproduced in a few days or weeks.
Commonly used UV aging tube
UVA-340: The main purpose is to simulate the short and medium wavelength range in the ultraviolet part of the sun, and is generally used for the light aging test of outdoor products.
UVA-351: The main purpose is to simulate the short and medium wavelength range in the ultraviolet part of the sunlight filtered by the window glass, which is generally used in indoor products.
UVB-313: They emit a considerable amount of radiation below 300nm, which is the nominal off-wavelength of solar radiation. This will cause some aging phenomena that do not occur outdoors. It is not recommended to use this lamp to simulate sunlight. This kind of test is mainly widely used to accelerate the durability test of materials, as a qualitative comparison of two or more materials.
